Birthday Letters

 Birthday Letters by Ted Huges

Description

Ted Hughes's Birthday Letters are addressed, with just two exceptions, to Sylvia Plath, the American poet to whom he was married. They were written over a period of more than twenty-five years, the first a few years after her suicide in 1963, and represent Ted Hughes's only account of his relationship with Plath and of the psychological drama that led both to the writing of her greatest poems and to her death. The book became an instant bestseller on its publication in 1998 and won the Forward Prize for Poetry in the same year.

This is book of poetry. We were asked to read this for creative writing and the tutor said if you dont like poetry you will defentaily love poetry after this.
I love poetry not very good at it but I do enjoy some poetry . I starting to read Birthday Letters and I was  looking forward to reading it but when  I started to read it I did not like it or understand it. This could be because it was based on his life and his Famous wife Sylivia Plath who I never heard of until I did english course. This for me is a no no.
I just scanned through the book hopeing a couple of poems would stand out for me but this did not happen.
I think if I new abit more about his self and his life at that time then I think it would be differnt matter.
I found it hard to read and to get into . I could not connect at all with this book so for that I will give it 1 out of 10.  Sorry Ted Huges
