Book club for December
This month I am putting a bit of book description down so you know abit about the books before you pick which one you want to read. You don't have to buy the books if you don't want to just use a libabry if you like and I will be picking a book that is free from the kindle. when you finished the book let us know what you think so we can have discussions about them and if you can rate the book out of five to.
1) The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling:When Barry Fairbrother dies in his early forties, the town of Pagford is left in shock.
Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war.
Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils... Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?
2) Changeling by Philippa Gregory:
The first book in the thrilling YA sequence, Order of Darkness. The year is 1453, and all signs point to it being the end of the world. Accused of heresy and expelled from his monastery, handsome seventeen-year-old, Luca Vero, is recruited by a mysterious stranger to record the end of times across Europe. Commanded by sealed orders, Luca is sent to map the fears of Christendom, and travel to the very frontier of good and evil. Seventeen-year-old Isolde, a Lady Abbess, is trapped in a nunnery to prevent her claiming her rich inheritance. As the nuns in her care are driven mad by strange visions, walking in their sleep, and showing bleeding wounds, Luca is sent to investigate and all the evidence points to Isolde's criminal guilt. Outside in the yard they are building a pyre to burn her for witchcraft. Forced to face the greatest fears of the medieval world - dark magic, werewolves, madness - Luca and Isolde embark on a search for truth, their own destinies, and even love as they take the unknown ways to the real historical figure who defends the boundaries of Christendom and holds the secrets of the Order of Darkness.
3) Q - A Thriller by K D George:
How far would you go to rescue your lover? Would you go to hell on earth? Ex-soldier Felix Chapman embarks on an audacious attempt to rescue his wife after her abduction in a vicious modern day piracy attack off West Africa. She is lost in a brutal anarchic country ruled by warring tribes. There are no laws, no police, no diplomatic treaties and no hope...

Dracula Review
Dracula by Bram Stoker
Book Description:
A true masterwork of storytelling, Dracula has transcended generation, language, and culture to become one of the most popular novels ever written. It is a quintessential tale of suspense and horror, boasting one of the most terrifying characters ever born in literature: Count Dracula, a tragic, night-dwelling specter who feeds upon the blood of the living, and whose diabolical passions prey upon the innocent, the helpless, and the beautiful. But Dracula also stands as a bleak allegorical saga of an eternally cursed being whose nocturnal atrocities reflect the dark underside of the supremely moralistic age in which it was originally written -- and the corrupt desires that continue to plague the modern human condition.
Dracula is a horror book and was Bram Stoker best book and has been made in to many films. This book is in letter, diary form and its from Johnathan Harker, Mina and the doctor point of view. It's called Dracula but you never hear from Dracula point of view. I study this book twice now and I would never of read it if was not for my degree. I found in parts I was lossing interest in the book but other times I got really in to it and then I would get fed up again. The way the book written in diary and letter form lost be abit because it kept switching to different characters and what was happening with them at that point. . The imagery and description is very good because you can see everything that going on inyour mind. My husband loved this book and loved the style of writing and could not put it down . Where I was not that interested as much but hd to read for my lecture.
I give this book 6 out of 10
Would love to hear your comments if you have read this book

Mockingbird Review
Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine
Book Description:
This is a heart-warming story of loss and recovery that won the American National Book Award 2010 - one of the most moving books you'll ever read. 11-year-old Caitlin has Asperger's syndrome, and has always had her older brother, Devon, to explain the confusing things around her. But when Devon is killed in a tragic school shooting, Caitlin has to try and make sense of the world without him. With her dad spending most of his time crying in the shower, and her life at school becoming increasingly difficult, it doesn't seem like things will ever get better again.
I found this novel on the kindle and by the description it sounded good. This Book is fantastic it really pulled on my heart strings. Its about girl who has aspergers and her brother and some other people got shoot. The story is how her and her father cope from there loss and Catitiln has no friends at school but she finally finds a friend she can be herself with. I could not put this novel down . I wanted to know if her father would be there for her and could they get through this terrible event. The characters were easy to get on with and sympathy with. I really enjoyed this style of writing and I did think this was a true story due to how she writes this book and the research about the story. This book is defently must read . I give this book 10 out 10
I would love to hear people comments on this book.

Book Club For November
This month I am putting a bit of book description down so you know abit about the books before you pick which one you want to read. You don't have to buy the books if you don't want to just use a libabry if you like and I will be picking a book that is free from the kindle. This month its Darkness Falls. If there is any books that you want to put on the book club please let me know. Looking forward to having discussions with you about these books.
Here is November book list:
1) Thursdays In the Park by Hilary Boyd
Books Description :
The book tells the story of Jeanie, a middle aged woman whose husband has not shared a bed with her for ten long years. Unsurprisingly, for this genre, Jeanie meets a new and exciting man in the park who sweeps her off her feet and reawakens her lost passion for life and sex. One only has to read the humorous blog The Plankton: Life at the bottom of the sexual food chain, written by a middle aged divorcee, to know that this scenario is fairly unlikely. The more interesting novel would have explored what happens when no one comes to rescue Jeanie from her bad marriage, and she has to save herself.
2) Darkness Falls by Jessica Sorensen This is fantasy magic book
Book Description :
April Dunne is having a rough time. There are vampires in her school. Not Goths, or Emos in fancy dress. Dangerous, blood-sucking semi-immortals. They run the school. They pretend to be students at it. And they're using their influence to recruit smart, rich students - aka 'bleeders' - to their own cause. What is that cause? April isn't sure. But she knows they killed a rock star for it, and innocents who got too close to the truth. One of them almost killed her. But that's nothing to what's coming next. Gabriel, her kinda-boyfriend, is dying and unless April can find a cure then not only is she going to be boyfriendless, she's also going to lose one of her major allies in the school. And she really needs allies. Because it turns out April has an ability of her own, one that could prove lethal to the 'Suckers' who've taken over the school. If any of them figure out what she is, then losing her boyfriend will be the least of her problems ...
3) The Lewis Man Trilogy by Peter May. This is Crime novel
Book Description:
An unidentified corpse is recovered from a Lewis peat bog; the only clue to its identity being a DNA sibling match to a local farmer. But this islander, Tormod Macdonald - now an elderly man suffering from dementia - has always claimed to be an only child. When Tormod's family approach Fin Macleod for help, Fin feels duty-bound to solve the mystery.

Review on Host
Host by Stepheine Meyer
Book Description:
The Host is Stephenie Meyer's first adult novel. The human race has been taken over by parasitic but peace-loving aliens called souls. Melanie, the human host of a soul called Wanderer, is resistant and refuses to fade away, leading Wanderer on a journey unlike any she's experienced in her nine lives in other hosts' bodies around the universe.
Well what can I say about this book. Its science fiction .It is completely different from the Twilight serious. When I saw this book I could not wait to read it because her last three were so good I thought the Host would be the same. I was so wrong .The book was hard to read , very slow .Did not understand at all what was going on . It is a very weird book. I have not even finished reading is because i just can not get into it. I have tried several times to finish it but I just lose interest. The characters are very basic , stale and not very interesting.
I give this book 0 out of 10
If there is people that disagree. I would love to here your comments and would also love to hear from the people who agree

Monologue
Susie from the AA meeting her point of view about Susan.
So sick of these AA meetings
they seem to be the same people every week to dreaing on about the same old
problems. I wish something different or exciting would happen in these
meetings. I wonder why I still come, I'm not like these people I've got a grip
on my life. I have not drank for over a year now but I suppose I come for the
company really and to get out of the house.
Wait minute somebody new has just
walked in this hasn't happened in ages.
“Hi my name is Susan and I'm an alcoholic “she says.
She looks like she's
carrying the whole world on her shoulders; turns out she's a vicar's wife which
is a bit of a shock. I definitely feel sorry for her I think I would turn to
drink if I was in her position, what I’m talking about I'm an alcoholic.
She talks about her life as a
vicar's wife and about the incident with the flowers in the church where she
fell over and hit ahead and all her florist's friends were sort of smothering
her and running around to help her.
I notice she sat in the
corner all on an own while we are having a break she looked very sad on all
alone. So I decided to go over to speak to her. Hi I'm Susie I gather this is
your first time here.
“Yes
she said I've never been to one of these meetings before, it is bit scary and
admitting you're an alcoholic to other people and yourself plus being a vicar's
wife you’re not supposed to do things like this”.
Susan looks like she's in
her late fifty’s; she hasn't got many friends and she hates her life at
present. I tell her a bit about myself, I am thirty-six and have been alcoholic
for about ten years. Drunk myself silly every day and nearly died, when a
friend made me come to my senses. Susan gave me sympathy look and I suppose she
felt sorry for me.
After that I saw her nearly every week she
continued to come to the AA meetings and she started to look brighter and bit perkier
in herself. We started to become good
friends after that and we started to confide in each of about our lives and are
secrets that we haven't told anyone else. For instance she told me one day
she'd slept with this Indian guy who was a shopkeeper and he was called Mr Ramesh.
Susan said “he was a lot younger than myself, even though when I saw him I was
drunk but I enjoyed spending time with him”. “Really I said I cannot believe a
vicar's wife would do something like that but then I suppose you do anything
when you’re not happy with your life”. Susan looked at me and agreed and Susan
said Mr Ramesh seemed to understand her and never asked any questions about her
life and he made her happy. He also made her realise that she needed to get
some help, about her drinking. So she's glad she met him in a way.
This woman amazing
to me. What Susan been through I would never thought a vicar's wife would feel
like this and be an alcoholic. It's been about two months now and she's not had
a drink and she seems a lot more contented in her life now .Susan seems happy
with the vicar at present and am really
happy for her and we still see each other on Thursday in the AA meetings. Which
am glad about.

Fifty Shades of Grey Review
Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James
Book Description
When literature student Anastasia Steele interviews successful entrepreneur Christian Grey, she finds him very attractive and deeply intimidating. Convinced that their meeting went badly, she tries to put him out of her mind – until he turns up at the store where she works part-time, and invites her out.
Unworldly and innocent, Ana is shocked to find she wants this man. And, when he warns her to keep her distance, it only makes her want him more.
But Grey is tormented by inner demons, and consumed by the need to control. As they embark on a passionate love affair, Ana discovers more about her own desires, as well as the dark secrets Grey keeps hidden away from public view …
I kept seeing people mentioning this novel on their facebook statues but thought no think to it until it was on the news and how they were saying everyone reading it. After that i wanted to know what ll the fuss was about so one on my friends gave me the book.
I read this book I found it very interesting and could not believe how intimate and erotic the novel was. I could not put the book down I wanted to know what Happened between Anastasia and Christian. I thought Christian character is very dark and dangerous did not like the way he controlled Ana . Ana character seems very naive and gullible and would do anythink for this guy she just meet. The characters are a little like the characters from Twilight but that did not seem to put me off. The novel is very easy to read and kept me hooked to the end
The Trilogy is very erotic and steamy all through the book.
I give fifty shades 7 out of 10
I will review the next two books of the trilogy soon.
If any one has any comments on Fifty shades . I would love to hear them.

Questions I would like to ask Emma Donoghue
I was recommend to read your book Room (Emma Donoghue)
I was absolutely blown away by this novel; it was not at
all what I expected it to be about. To the point you convinced me this novel
was a true story.
As a writer I would love to know how you came up with
this idea. Did you know someone or was it you? Or was it completely from your
imagination?
The way you wrote from a child’s perspective was great
and you included how they would speak, not knowing much grammar, which made it
so authentic. It made the novel so much more believable.
At first I did not like it from a young child’s
perspective but then I did not know what this book was really like and where and
where you were heading with it.
This novel completely shocked me: I could not believe a
child and a mother could go through this terrible ordeal. I felt so sorry for
him when his mum would not get out of bed and would just lie in a deep sleep,
which left him to offend for himself.
The part that disgusted me at first was that she was
still breastfeeding him at four years old. It’s amazing how one novel can make you
have so many different emotions and want to be getting involved in the
situations that are happening and shouting out at her to do something.
When I got to the end of the novel, I felt I wanted more and
felt like I was left in limbo. I was hoping there was second instalment, but
there is not.
Emma I am so interested to know how you do that, leaving
a reader wanting more- how did you get a reader to feel all these different
reactions and emotions?
These are some of the questions I have for you and would
like your knowledge and experience to
help me incorporate these techniques in my writing.
I just felt that I was going on emotional rollercoaster
with these two characters and would love to bring this in my work.
What inspired you to write this bo
ok?
Did you have to know very much about this area of abuse/
kidnapping?
You have inspired me to try different avenues, ideas and
approaches.
Thank you so much for your time.
In lecture we were asked to write a letter or just piece
of writing to author we admire. I wrote about Emma Donoghue wrote Room. In this piece am asking her
questions and talking about her book.

Backstage Pass Review
Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning
Book Description :
The first in a new erotic romance series, Backstage Pass is a sizzling mix of sex, love, and rock n’ roll
It’s been months since Brian Sinclair, lead guitarist for the famous rock band, Sinners, composed anything. Unable to write the music that once flowed so naturally, Brian is lost without his musical mojo. But when sexy psychology professor Myrna Evans comes on tour to study groupie mentality, Brian may have found the spark he needs to reignite his musical genius. When lust turns to love, will Brian be able to convince Myrna that what they have is more than just a fling, and that now that he’s found his heart’s muse, he doesn’t want to live without her?
As the description says it has very erotic scenes in this novel so beware before you read this because it is very steamy.
These kinds of books don't really interest me but it was free on the kindle and I wrongly assumed it was a novel about A band which it sort of is in away.To be honest I did really enjoy this book and my husband thought it was quite funny I was reading it and he took the Micky out of me but if he read a couple of lines and even he said it was very steamy.
It does have a good plot and its not just about sex. The story line is very good and an easy read. I could not put the book down because I wanted to know what happens next. I did read it pretty fast.
I would highly recommend this as good read if you like that sort of thing. If you dont then I would give it miss.
I give this book 10 out of 10.
If people have read this book I would be interested in what you thought of it. So please leave a comment .

Room Review
Room by Emma Donoghue
Description:
Room, is a unique and amazing story about a boy's day-to-day experience living in a small, windowless room with his mother. The 11' x 11' space between the walls of the room are actually all the boy knows because he was born there and has never left.
I was recommend this book from my sister inlaw and she told me it was about a boy in a room. I did not know what to expect from this book. When I started to read it , it was from little boys view which I thought was bit weird at first and the spelling, the way he talks defentaly shows its from small boys perspective.
This book was not what I thought it was. I could not put it down . I just wanted to know what happened to him. I was so upset and horrifed by what they had put him through and felt so sorry for him and his mum.
When I finished the book I was left wanting more. I thought this was a true story but it is not and she has not done a follow on from it as far as am aware.
I was really shocked that it was fiction. It was written well and keep me on my toes wanted more and I loved how she wrote from childs point of view. This is somethink I would eventually like to do.
I give this book 10 out of 10. This is must read book.

Husky voice
When I look into your eyes,
I see the ocean. The blue waves heading
faster and faster towards me as if it’s dragging me in to the heart of the sea.
I am falling deeper and deeper into the sea as the tide gently takes me under
the water. There I see you, finally standing their beautiful, with tear running
down your face. I finely see you for who you are once and for all. I see the
pain, heartache, loss and love. It’s as if you finally give in and stopped
fighting and let me in to your world.

This is another piece I got from music but this is not finished. Don't know whether to turn it into a poem . Which is why its in the poem section.
whisper
I hear something
in the distance, it sounds like angles singing. No it can’t be. I carry on walking and it’s as if the singing
is following me. So I walk a bit faster to find where it’s coming from but every
time I think am getting closer the music seems further away. I tell myself to
give up and turn around but something willing me to carrier on. This feeling
takes complete control of my body. I
suddlay look up and turn around and I see myself in the distance, stood there
with my eyes wide open looking at me. No it can’t be. I look again I realize am
lying on the floor. No it can’t be . I realize that my spirit has left my body
and then I see this bright light and the music gets closer and closer towards
me now. What’s going on? The light
moving towards a cave so I follow. I enter the cave and I see this bright coloured light. I feel like am glowing and the music is just like a whisper in
my ears but I can’t quite make out what’s its saying. I look up and I can’t believe what am
seeing. Then out of nowhere theirs big crash. I feel like my whole body hurts.
I open my eyes slowly they are bit blurred and
I see a crowd of people looking
over at me and a lady I think bent over me trying to
resituate me. In the background I hear people screaming. I realize am back to
reality. What the hell happening, I don’t understand but Part of me wants to go
back.

This piece is not finished . Came up with this from listening to piece of music . I am hoping to expand on this but not sure where to go with it at present .
Hypocrite
Oh,
God, not her again, why do I come to these parties? Rose told me, she promised
that she would not be coming tonight. I hate her and the way she thinks she is
better than everyone else. All she does is go on about how great her life is.
Do you know what, I do not care and I never will. Go and jump of a cliff, no –one
will miss you. Why do I do it? I am stressing myself out and I shouldn’t say
that, really I did not mean it. Well, actually I do, a little. I just can’t forgive
her, she took my job, and my ex-boyfriend behind my back, but she did me a
favour with him. So she is welcome to him. That job was a fresh start, a new
life; money, great prospects but she took it, knowing full well that job meant
everything to me. She made out she was my best friend but she was plotting
behind my back. She makes me so angry; I want to throw something right this
second. Oh, shit, she’s coming straight for me. Quick, run to the toilet. Oh no
I am blocked in from every possible angle! I can’t believe this. Ok, calm down, count to ten and put on your friendly face.
“Hi
Judy,”
“Hi
Stella”
“You
look lovely tonight, Judy.”
“Oh, thanks, just something I throw on.”
“Well,
you can tell that.”
“Bitch!”
“Did
you say something Judy?”
“I
just said thanks.”
“I
did not think you were coming Stella”
“I
could not miss Rose and Martin’s engagement party. I did have a business trip
on but I postponed it until tomorrow.”
“That
was good of you, Stella.”
“Well
my friends are important to me, Judy, just like you. I left you a message the
other day at that drab place that you call a job.”
Cow
“What
did you say?”
“I
said I have been busy and out of the office all week. Had a lot of viewings to
do.”
“You
know, you need to get out of that job. You know you’re never going to amount to
anything there.”
Well,
what I would like to say to her is: well if you had not taken my job, you jumped
up two- faced, hypercritical bitch, I would not be in that dead- end job but
you, my so called friend, decided, to take it all away from me and rub my face
in it. But instead of saying what I really wanted to say. I came out with:
“Yeah
,you’re right ,Stella, but I really like working with the Smiths and I
think I am going to stay there for
another year and look around.”
“Well,
if I was you, I would start looking now. You could do so much better than
working there and I don’t think the job I am doing would have made you happy,
so I think I have done you a favour, Judy.”
“Yeah
thanks Stella.”
“Well, maybe we should meet up next week. How
about Thursday, I am free. I don’t go to Spain till Friday and we can talk
jobs.”
“No
Stella you’re fine I am really busy.”
“No
its fine. I will arrange it and if it’s the money don’t worry, I will pay , I
know how hard up you are.”
I am going to kill her. I can feel my hand
going into a fist and slowly rising towards her. When suddenly, I feel somebody
shove my hand back and it’s Rose. I hear her whisper in my ear
“Calm
down. I will get rid of her.”
“Stella,
must take Judy away from you, I have been dying to introduce her to Martin’s
friend Paul.”
“Oh
great. Well, I’ll see you Thursday, Judy. Love you, bye.”
Not
if I see you first. “Yeah, see you soon, Stella, take care.”
Hope
you don’t trip on your mouth on the way out!

Twenty minute train journey
Oh
no I’ve missed the train again, one day I will catch it on time. I checked my
watch and it is dead on 6 o’clock in the morning. In the distance the train is
coming towards the platform. I look up; oh my goodness am not late, am early. Well,
that’s a first. I walk on to the middle carriage and there is no one to be seen
so I make my way to the last booth at the end of the carriage. I am very
pleased with myself because normally I usually have to stand up. I place my
suitcase on the opposite chair and get my newspaper and chocolate out of my bag
because, again, I forgot to eat breakfast from being in a rush. I am just about
to tuck into my chocolate when Stan, the ticket man, enters the carriage.
“Blimy did you shit the bed?” with a smug grin
on his face like Cheshire cat. “Miracles do happen”
“Now now, Stan, that’s enough of that,” as I
smile at him.
“I
can be early sometimes, here do your job and take my ticket.”
“Now
now bossy Bridget.”
All
of sudden the train did its normal jerk when it came to a standstill at the
next stop. Stan fell right on my lap.
“Get off me you big glug!”
He went all shy and bright as tomato.
Vicky
am ssssorry it was not my fault, the bloody train, you know when it stops it
does that jerk.”
“It’s
ok, Stan, I know.”
Then all of a sudden he runs off. My eyes
travel to the couple who just walk through the sliding doors. They are having
this big argument about bikes I think, no that can’t be right. Oh well, better
look at my phone.
The
train starts on its way again. I look at my clock, it says 6.15 I have five minutes
to check my messages. My phone lights up
red saying I have a missed call from Claire and two text messages. It makes me think of home; no, come on, snap
out of it, you made the right decision leaving Ireland. One message is from Claire and the other
from Mike. I decide to open Mike’s:
hey I see you left again in a rush got some
great news to tell you. I’ll tell you when you get back from France. Oh, PS,
your sister Claire trying to get you, seems pretty urgent. I know you don’t
want to call but call. Love you. PPs can’t wait, got new feller that’s all am
telling you. Have a safe trip don’t forget to bring me back something. X Mike
What are you like, you will never change. Mmm, what is so urgent with Claire,
we have not spoken for six months. I open the text:
Vicky, it’s me don’t delete this. I need to talk to you its important.
Please ring me love you Claire.
Before I can decide what to do. Stan shouts
next stop Heathrow. I look at my watch, it’s 6.20am.
I get my suitcase and walk to the sliding
doors. Brace yourself Vicky 1, 2, 3, bang, I go flying: right on my bum and my
dress rides up. Before I can maintain my dignity this dark haired man, mid-twenties,
pulls me up and asks me if I am ok. I
look at him and say, yes, completely embarrassed, and run out of the door
before the train goes. The train pulls off and this good looking guy goes
without me saying thanks or finding out his name. Well done Vicky!

Summer breeze
It was a beautiful sunny day in January.
Summer decided to go for a walk on the sandy beach. The sea was a lovely blue green
colour, and the waves were calming. Summer always enjoyed the California
coastline during winter. As she walked her blonde hair was playing in the wind and
she was longingly watching couples holding hands together and dogs bouncing in
and out of the sea. All of a sudden something caught her eye.
A young man sitting
on the sand was looking deep and far away in to the sea. He aroused her
curiosity and she watched his blonde curly hair move slowly in time with the wind
as she sat down behind him. Summer’s phone went off and as she was scrambling
to find it, the mysterious guy had disappeared when she was not looking. As she
got up she stumbled, then felt big firm hands around her slender body which
made her tremble inside. As she looked up it was the guy she had been watching.
Summer stared deeply in to his blue eyes.
“You OK?" Said this soft voice.
“Yes
l’m fine, you caught me by surprise. You can let me go now I’m fine”.
As he let
go of her body she felt the electricity between them. They had another
encounter which made him look in to her deep green eyes and he said,
“Hi am Luke”.
This startled her out of daze, urm,
“Hi
l’m summer”.
“Summer
would you like to grab a coffee, so I know you’re ok”.
“Honestly
I’m fine, but yes, that would be lovely thank you”.
They had been talking for hours and before they knew it the
town clock outside the cafe chimed twelve.
As they parted’ Luke caught her arm, pulled her into his toned body and
kissed her tenderly on her lips. “Bye Summer I’ll see you again”.
Luke smiled
and walked off into the distance. Summer
was in a daze and thought this is going to be the start of something very
special. Her heart was pounding with excitement and she could not wait to see
him again. After that encounter they saw each other every day and they grew
closer and closer together.
Six months later Summer was in the coffee house with Izzy. The
coffee house was quiet today and had soft relaxing music playing. They were overlooking
a river with ducks swimming about. People were running to their cars because of
the heavy rain. Izzy returned from Australia, she had been over there for a
year. Summer could not wait to tell her
the news.
“Izzy I have found the one. As soon as we met it was like we meant to
be”.
"Summer I am so happy for you, you deserve this”.
“Izzy
am just bit concerned i feel like he is hiding some think from me”.
“Why?”
“He has this look in his eyes every time I ask questions about his life and our
future”.
“Summer it’s probably
you thinking the worse because of past relationships. Don’t worry, but if you’re uncertain talk to
him”.
“Thanks
izzy maybe you are right”.
That night she went to meet Luke at the finest Italian
restaurant in town, Marco’s. Luke had told her to wear something stunning. As Summer
was walking into the restaurant her blue silk dress clung to her slender figure
as she walked towards him. Luke looked so handsome in his grey suede suit.
“You
take my breath way, I am the luckiest man alive”.
“Don’t be silly you are
making me go all embarrassed”.
They talked between courses and finally she decided
to tell him that she felt as if he had a deep secret that he was keeping from her.
“Luke I need to talk to you”, it was just as if he knew what she was going to
ask when he got down on one knee. “What are you doing Luke, everyone’s looking”?
“I
don’t care, I want everyone to know. “I love you so much Summer, would you do
the honor of marrying me”? “Oh Luke,
yes I would love to”.
That night Summer was on the top of the world and was the
happiest she had ever been. Everything was finally going right for her.
Two
months later it was finally the day of the wedding and she was floating on air.
Summer had been feeling unwell for two months, she could not seem to shift it
and today she felt really sick but took it to be nerves. Summer walked up the aisle
with Izzy behind her. Soft classical music was playing in the background and there
were red roses scattered around the church. There were just a few friends
standing up as summer walked down the aisle with her dress flowing gently behind
her. It was a beautiful white colour with sequins on the front and the dress Izzy
was wearing gorgeous blue off the shoulder. Summer noticed neither Luke nor Adam
the best man was there. The vicar was just standing there motionless. She
started to feel anxious. All of sudden Adam
came running up with something in his hand.
“What
is it Adam?”
“I can’t
find Luke but he has left this letter in his room”.
Suddenly the colour from
her checks drained.
“I cannot open it, Izzy
will you open it please”.
Izzy looked at summer and nodded. Izzy read
the letter.
My
sweetest Summer
I am so
sorry. I don’t mean to hurt you but when you receive this letter I will be gone
and you won’t ever see me again. Just know you’re in my heart and am doing this
for you.
Love always,
Luke.
Xxxx
Summer
fell to the floor with a bang.
“Quick someone call the ambulance” said Izzy.
Summer Knew her world had ended, or had it?
THE
END

What a weird day
Today is not a very busy day, just half a day. Oh, I
forgot, I have this fifty year old,
middle- aged woman to teach how to swim. It’s her first lesson today, not
looking forward to this. She is bound to be bossy and know exactly what she is
doing and that I am wrong in what I am telling her. I don’t teach many old
people because of this but Katie’s off today and I am covering her lessons. She
had better stick to her word, buy me that beer later for this! I mainly teach children, it is fun but sometimes
you have those who mess about and think they’re untouchable in the water until
they end up falling in the pool and nearly drowning; they’re not so cocky then.
The middle aged woman did not really look her age; she had
black, short hair green eyes and a thin figure. Thoughts of worry were going
across my mind and I tried to push them aside and visualise my pint to get me
through.
She came down the steps
into the pool and the lesson began. She was a little reluctant to do what I asked
and she did not trust me, I was trying to hold her in the water to practise her
arm and leg kick. Then, all of a sudden she slipped and panicked and was about
to fall under, head first . I caught her before she fell in and then something
clicked between us. After an accident people
would give up and go home but she didn’t, she carried straight on and insisted
that she was okay and wanted to do that exact same move again. From then on I
admired her for what had just happened and for wanting to learn to swim at her
age. The
concentration in her face showed; she was trying so hard to master swimming and
willingness not to let it beat her. I felt myself willing her to do this and
just to swim a few steps and to have faith in herself. Suddenly, she shouted at me to let go of her
waist and I did. She swam nearly a width. I felt myself egging her on and her head
kept going under the water slightly but this did not stop her, she carried on
until she was about two foot away from the edge and said,
“That’s enough, now,”
With a cheeky
smile on her face. I smiled back at her and she said,
“Thank you for everything, I won’t forget this.”
I was so happy for
her and what she had done. I did this too,
I was part of helping her master swimming. It felt good. I shouted to her.
“I’ll see you next week.”
She did not answer,
she just turned and looked at me with a twinkle in her eye and walked off.
I went for a coffee and a cigarette, all I could think
about was her. I should not have judged her on her age and it made me think
that maybe I should give the older generation a chance and teach them to swim;
it might not be that bad. The lady had a
huge impact on me. It made me think I should not run away from things I am
afraid of and that I should take on new challenges. I wondered who was teaching
who. The lady taught me to not judge a book by its cover, a good job she came when
she did because now I can change a few things about myself. I just thought of the
look she gave me when she left, that glint in her eye, as if to say I did what
I came to do.
